TipDial Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

TipDial was previously called TipTally. Only the name changed; this is the same app, from the same developer, and this policy applies to both.

Overview

TipDial is a tip and bill splitting calculator that keeps your data on your device. We do not operate any servers or cloud services for this app, and nothing you calculate is sent to us. The free version shows ads, and Android's own backup service may copy the app's data to your Google account; both are explained below.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data. TipDial sends nothing to any server of ours, because we do not run one. There are no accounts, no cloud sync and no analytics. The free version is ad-supported and the Google AdMob SDK performs ad tracking of its own (see Third-Party Services).

Data Stored on Device

TipDial stores the following data locally on your device:

TipDial does not transmit this data anywhere. It is written to your device's own app storage and nothing in the app uploads it.

Android Backup

TipDial allows Android's built-in backup service (android:allowBackup="true"), which is the standard Android behaviour. This means Android itself may copy the app's data, including your saved calculation history and settings, to your own Google account, so that it can be restored if you reinstall the app or move to a new device. This is a Google platform feature, it is controlled by your device's own Backup settings rather than by TipDial, and the data goes to your Google account and not to us. We never receive it and have no way to read it. You can turn backup off for all apps in Settings → Google → Backup on your device.

Network Communication

The free version makes network requests to Google AdMob to serve ads. Your calculation history and settings are not part of those requests. The Pro version makes no advertising requests; apart from Google Play Billing (Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPad), which handles and restores your purchase, it functions entirely offline.

In-app purchases. Any purchase inside the app (such as the upgrade that removes ads) is handled by Google Play Billing on Android and by the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPad. Google or Apple processes the payment and keeps the record (Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy); the app only learns whether the purchase is active. We never see your payment details. Restoring a purchase checks your Google Play or App Store account.

Third-Party Services

The free version may display ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data per Google's Privacy Policy. The Pro version has no ads or third-party services.

Ads on iPhone and iPad. On iOS the ads are also served by Google AdMob, under Google's privacy policy. Before the first ad is requested, the app runs Google's consent step, which presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether the app may track you. If you do not allow tracking, or the prompt is not shown, iOS does not give the app or Google your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and ads are not personalised using it. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Data Security

Your data is stored in your device's local storage, protected by your device's built-in security. Uninstalling the app will delete all stored data from the device. If Android Backup is enabled on your device, a copy may remain in your Google account until Android removes it; you can delete it from your Google account's backup settings.

Children's Privacy

TipDial is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
