DailyPlate ("the App") is a food diary developed by GriswoldLabs. There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours behind it. Everything you log stays on your phone. This page says exactly what does and does not leave the device.
Your profile (age, sex, height, weight, activity level, goal, diet type, allergies), your daily targets, your food log, water intake, recipes, grocery list, custom foods, weekly summaries and settings are stored in the App's local storage on your phone. We cannot see them. If you uninstall the App they are deleted, and you can clear them at any time from Settings.
Barcode lookups. When you scan a barcode, the App first checks a cache on your phone. If the product is not cached, it sends the barcode number alone to Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org), an open food database, to fetch the product's nutrition. No name, account, device identifier or anything from your log goes with it. Open Food Facts receives the request the way any website receives one, including your IP address, and publishes its own privacy policy. Results are cached on your phone.
Advertising. The free version of the App shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob uses your device's advertising ID and information about ad interactions to serve and measure ads, under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your device's settings. AdMob does not receive your food log, profile or body statistics. Removing ads is a one-time purchase, after which the App stops requesting ads.
Ads on iPhone and iPad. On iOS the ads are also served by Google AdMob, under Google's privacy policy. Before the first ad is requested, the app runs Google's consent step, which presents Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether the app may track you. If you do not allow tracking, or the prompt is not shown, iOS does not give the app or Google your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and ads are not personalised using it. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Ad removal purchase. The purchase is handled by Google Play Billing on Android and by the Apple App Store on iPhone and iPad. Google or Apple processes the payment and keeps the record (Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy); the App only learns whether the purchase is active. We never see your payment details. Restoring a purchase checks your Google Play or App Store account.
Nothing else leaves the device. The App does not send your food, your profile or your body statistics to any analytics, AI or cloud service.
The camera is used only while you are scanning a barcode, to read the code. No photos or video are captured, stored or sent. You can decline the camera permission and use the App without scanning.
Reminders are off by default. If you turn them on, they are scheduled on your phone by the App and shown by Android. No reminder data is sent anywhere.
From Settings you can export your data as a file. The App hands that file to the Android share sheet and you choose where it goes; we do not receive a copy. Import reads a file you pick. Whatever you do with an exported file, including sharing it, is up to you.
DailyPlate is a food diary, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Calorie and macro targets are estimates. Talk to a healthcare professional before changing your diet.
